Sharon Makes…
The application process more enjoyable, clear, and less scary.
Whether you’re an individual artist applying for a grant, or program, a community organization, or an arts collective submitting an application to secure funding, I can help. I’ll work with you to prepare your proposal, demystify the application process-deciphering any grantspeak and meeting you where you are. Together, we’ll shine a light on your work and make you more confident in your grant application abilities.
What do I bring to the table?
Experience reviewing hundreds of applications for art programs, grants and residencies. Years of experience working in the New England creative economy and arts ecosystem and a deep passion for helping artists.

How Does It Work?
Levels of Support
Level 1: You’ve already written the application and just need a second set of eyes for editing and review. I provide a keen, critical, but kind eye while reviewing your application or portfolio ahead of a submission. I’ll learn the grant application and review your submission in conjunction with the grant requirements to give you usable feedback to strengthen your work.
Level 2: You know you want to apply but haven’t written the application yet. I’ll review the application to provide guidance to help get you started and support you during the drafting and editing of your grant application.
Level 3: You’re an organization or business that needs a grant writer to take on an application from start to finish. I’ll get to know you and your organization and develop a strong grant application.
*I can also assist you if you’ve already received a grant, but need support writing required reports on the project or program the grant funded.
Requirements
To serve you to the best of my abilities, I need the following from you.
At least two weeks between your request and the application deadline. Depending on the size of the application, I retain the right to turn down a request if I don’t think I’ll be able to give the work enough time to provide you with adequate feedback.
Link to the application and to your website or portfolio and or previous applications or other copy with language about your creative practice.
For organizations, a commitment to provide a 1099-NEC form prior to tax season if work exceeds $600 dollars.
Rates depend on the scope of work, timeline, and hourly commitment. I provide flexible and accessible options for individual artists and grassroots/community-led programs so don’t hesitate to reach out! Let’s discuss and see what can work for both of us.
